Italy has always been on my bucket list. From the history to the ancient ruins, I have wanted to go ever since I was a little girl. I finally got the chance to go with my boyfriend and his family. They have family that lives in Italy, so it worked out wonderfully. We had amazing people to travel all over the country with. Out of all of the places we visited, these are my Top Places to go to in Italy.

Rome: #1 of Top Places to visit in Italy

You cannot go to Italy without visiting Rome. There is so much rich history and sites to see, it has to be on your Italy List.
We stayed in Rome for 3 days. As soon as we arrived, we were on the go. The first place that we visited was the Fontana della Barcaccia (Fountain of the Boat). Being the middle of August, you can imagine how busy it was. But, we were able to enjoy our time there and take in the fountain and stairs. The rest of the day consisted of roaming around Rome and settling into our hotel.

The following day was set aside for more site seeing. It was Sunday, so of course a trip to the Vatican was on the list. Our group went at separate times. Four of them left really early for Mass, while my boyfriend and I left a couple hours later. When we arrived the Vatican was packed full of people. It took us a while to find the rest of our group. Finally, we met up at the fountain in the middle of Vatican City. Then it was a full day of site seeing.

Our first stop was the Colosseum. Talk about breath taking. When you step out of the tunnel for the train and take that first look at it, amazing. I still can’t believe that building is as old as it is and has all that history within it’s walls. After the Colosseum, we walked a few blocks down and stopped at The Basilica di Santa Francesca Romana. It is a beautiful church, that also has Saint Francesca Romana’s remains on display in the basement.

Next for the day was Trevi Fountain. We all took turns making wishes and throwing our coins into the fountain. (Side note, the younger people [My boyfriend, 2 of his cousins, and I] came back at 3am and took more pictures. They have security guards at night too.) The rest of the day was spent shopping, eating and relaxing at the hotel (until really late at night =)).

Pisa & The Leaning Tower: #2 of Top Places to go in Italy

Visiting Pisa and the Leaning Tower was a great experience. We took the bullet train, early in the morning, from Rome to Pisa. After we arrived in Pisa, we took a bus to the location of the Leaning Tower. Our group walked through the vendors and entered the courtyard. We walked around the whole place, and of course took our Tower pictures. The buildings and Tower are beautiful and the courtyard is taken care of very well. Our group only stayed for a few hours in Pisa before we continued our journey to Milan.

Milan: #3

After our long trip from Rome, to Pisa, to Milan, we all were exhausted. We made a quick trip to our hotel and relaxed until dinner. We traveled down to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which is a huge and amazingly constructed mall in the heart of Milan. There is a famous church outside in the courtyard. The Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano) was having some renovations being done, so we were not able to go inside, but we did enjoy the birds flying all around outside. Our group split once again for dinner. Half of them went to JollieBee’s, and the other half went to the Bar Mercurio. Despite all the negative reviews the place has, we had wonderful food and great service.

Monza: #4

The rest of our trip was spent in the beautiful city of Monza. We did a lot of walking around and site seeing here. Our first stop in Monza was the Parco di Monza (Monza Park). There was so much beauty to take in and enjoy, we went there again a few days later. After we walked around the park, we followed the cousins to a surprise they had for us. They brought us to the Formula 1 race track that is in Monza. We asked the toll booth worker if we could walk around the track since there was no race that day and it was our first time being there. He was nice enough to say yes. It took us quite some time to walk the whole track, but they had lovely landscape and the grand stands was awesome to see.

When we returned to the Parco di Monza a few days later, we had the rest of the family with us and explored even more. There is a garden across from the park, called Roseto ‘Niso Fumagalli’, that we enjoyed and took pictures at. Then we continued our walk and ended up at a little shopping area near the Piazza Trento e Trieste. There was some very cute boutiques and a beautiful monument in the center of the plaza.

That wrapped up our trip in Italy. We enjoyed our vacation there and plan of returning soon. Thank you for reading about our adventures in Italy and I hope you find some insight about some places to visit while in Italy. These are my Top Places to go in Italy.
